9 ways to keep your cat happy

Cats bring so much joy into our lives. So it’s only right that we return the favour by making sure they’re as happy, healthy and loved as they possibly can be! cat face

Here are nine ways to ensure your cat is living its best life:

1. It’s all about the H2O
This is a bit of a no-brainer, but your cat should always have access to fresh water (this is especially important if you’re feeding them dry food).

2. Feed them right
Your vet can advise not only what you should feed your cat, but also how much, based on their weight and level of activity. Don’t be tempted to overfeed them – no matter how difficult it might be to resist those adorable, pleading, Puss-in-Boots eyes!
3. Challenge them
Make your mog “work” for its food. They have a natural hunting instinct, so eating out of a normal dish is beyond boring for them. Try a puzzle feeder to help make their mealtimes mentally stimulating! paw prints

4. Visit the vet
Okay, so cats don’t usually enjoy trips to the vet, but as they’re known for hiding their illnesses it’s important that you take them at least once a year. That way, you can catch any potential health problems early on, keep them up-to-date with vaccinations and make sure they stay parasite-free.
5. Keep it clean
Cats will let you know how much they hate a dirty litter box… by simply not using it! Cue messes in other corners of your home. Cats want their living environment to be spick and span, so make sure you use a self-cleaning litter box or clean a traditional litter box at least once a day. Katz-Loo Natural Clumping Cat Litter is ideal for both of these options. It’s ultra scoopable and super absorbent, and keeps litter trays cleaner and fresher for longer. Cleanliness-obsessed cats love it – and so will their owners.
6. Looking good, feline good!
Regular grooming helps to keep your cat's coat and skin healthy, and can also help to reduce the amount of shedding – plus it’s extra bonding time for the two of you.
7. Play with them!
Cats need plenty of mental and physical stimulation. They also love exercising their hunting instincts, so you can tick all the boxes with things like scratching posts, climbing towers and interactive toys such as laser pointers and string toys. For cheap-as-chips fun, try a simple ping pong ball in a bathtub. ping pongperson taking bath
8. Respect their independence
Cats are independent, self-sufficient creatures, so be sure to give them the privacy and time on their own that they need.

9. Give them plenty of love and affection
Yes, cats will let you know when they want to be left alone… but they’ll definitely also let you know when they want attention! When that happens and they’re craving your affection… give it to them! red heart
