The dos and don’ts of cat health and hygiene

Cats are neat freaks! They love being clean and living in a clean environment, and their personal hygiene is generally on-point. However they still need some help from you, so follow this advice to keep your cat be purr-fectly clean, hygienic, comfortable and healthy.

Do:
cat Give your cat regular grooming sessions: use a brush or comb to remove loose fur and prevent matting
bathtub Give them regular baths (but only if they’re comfortable with it)
scissors Trim their nails regularly
droplet Provide them with fresh water and high-quality food every day
broom Keep their litter box clean and fresh. Katz-Loo Natural Clumping Cat Litter is the obvious answer here as it clumps so well, soaks up all moisture and traps nasty odours, and is suitable for use in a traditional litter tray or an automated litter box

Don’t:
soap Don’t use human shampoo on your cat: they have a different pH balance to humans, and using human shampoo can cause irritation and dryness
toothbrush Don’t forget their teeth: brush your cat’s teeth regularly or give them dental chews to help keep their teeth and gums healthy. It might take a bit of training, but once your cat is used to the process things will get easier
deciduous tree Don’t let your cat outside if they haven't been vaccinated
person taking bath Don’t bathe them too often: it can dry out their skin and disrupt their natural oils
thermometerDon’t ignore any signs of illness or discomfort in your cat: get to a vet if you notice any unusual symptoms

Remember: every cat is unique, so consult your vet for tailored advice about your beloved moggy.
